we all know furry art is AN art in the same scene re-arranging your shelves is an art.... but is it art??

i mean that witch you might find in a gallery or for those studding art, something you might hand in as an assessment piece, this comes after a discussion between me and a friend where we where discussing types and movements in particular abstract ((the really wanky ones like The black and white cross in the BG and something that was essentially this flat colours no texture)) and i said what about anime she told me that she thinks its not really art and if anything it was kinda just pop art, so i put it past her that perhaps its a movement of its own.

so what dose the ACTfur forum think. is anthro/furry and anime/manga art??

personally im undecided

((note to mods: sorry if its in the wrong thread))

Wow thats a hard question.
But the answer in my eye's is that it depends on the person preseaving anthro/furry and anime/manga themed art if it's art.
But in the words of my art teachers when she cort me finishing off a commision, "What is that, and don't let me hear the words art come out of your mouth." lol

Well there are 2 way you can take it.
Firstly that anything that show skill in creation of images (or sounds) is art; in this case furry and anime are most definatly art (but arguably much modern work may not be...)
Secondly that art is about the idea, in which case alot of anime/furry artists don't qualify because they do whatever work there paid to or have a pool of just a few characters they work with, making them technically illustrators
On a side note there are a number of artist-artists that work with anthro characters, I can't think of names right now but I do know of one who does quite cool lino-cuts, don't know if they call themselves or their art furry but it certainly looks that way

im confused wanna explain what is classified as "art" and then what is classified as "pop art" and why "pop art" is not classified as a type of "art"... in this case.....

only because from my point of view art is anything that comes out of your mind or is created.... then again tho i still consider something of a really nice sports car as a work of art...... but i guess this is all personal opinion in this case...

my point of view on this subject if someone hinks a lone spec on paint on paper is art then its art to them to others can belive otherwise and thats what art is to me.
